Opening hours

The Fruit and Veg Market wholesalers on the Buyers' Walk trade from around 00:00 - 06:00 Monday to Saturday, though some do open and close slightly later or earlier.

The wholesalers in the Fruit and Veg Market who deliver tend to operate 24hrs, with their office hours around 07:00 - 15:00.

The Flower Market's core trading hours are 04:00 - 10:00 Monday to Saturday, but some wholesalers are open till 12:00 Monday to Friday. Not all wholesalers are open on Saturday so do check with your wholesaler before coming to the market.

The market's Main Entrance is open 24hrs, so you can access the market even when we're not open for trading.

Entry to the market

For each vehicle, there is a £5 entry charge you will need to pay at the Main Entrance or Flower Market Entrance.

If you use the market twice or more a week (on average) then it works out cheaper for you to buy an entry tag for the year.

Tag prices are:
Customers (all vehicles) - £220 + VAT
Tenant private vehicles - £295 + VAT
Tenant commercial vehicles - £400 + VAT
Tenant rigid or articulated HGVs - £800 + VAT

Tags bought between 1 November 2016 – 31 January 2017 will be charged at full price, and then at a reduced quarterly rate after 1 February. If your tag is lost or stolen, it will cost £30 + VAT to replace.

To buy a tag, or to find out more, please call 020 7720 2211 or email our Operations Team.

If you’re coming by foot then there is no entry fee.

Cafés and shops

If you need a bacon butty or a hot cup of coffee to keep you going in the morning, then we have loads of cafés to choose from. These are dotted around the site in both the Fruit & Vegetable and Flower Markets. There is also a Post Office on the West Bridge (Fruit & Vegetable Market) offering a full range of postal services.

Health & Safety

New Covent Garden Market is a busy, commercial site and it is important you are aware and conscious of your health & safety at all times when in the market. This is especially important overnight when there are large numbers of Forklift Truck and commercial vehicle movements.

Everyone is encouraged to wear a High Visibility Jacket when on site and especially in the areas where vehicles are moving/loading/unloading. Pedestrians should always use the walkways (clearly indicated by a 'yellow man') and take care around the site to ensure their and other users' safety.

Please see the latest safety bulletin on pedestrian routes around the site here.

Please note that no children under 16 (accompanied or unaccompanied) are allowed into the market for health and safety reasons.

If you have any questions about health & safety in the Market please contact us on 020 7720 2211.
