UK apples are in full flow. Varieties at time of writing include Worcester and Robin, with Cox soon to follow. Pears will follow in their wake. Cobnuts are also coming in from Kentish orchards.
It's been a decent year for plums. Victoria is the key UK variety now, to be followed by Marjorie's Seedling. You will also find greengages, damsons and European varieties, including the last of the French crop of Mirabelle. (Learn more in our Chef's Guides via the link above.)
Other fruit highlights include figs, with French, Spanish and Italian now giving way to Turkish Bursa figs.
Other fruits to consider include prickly pears, peaches, nectarines (incl. nectavigne) and grapes (incl. Italian strawberry and French Muscat). Soft fruit such as blueberries, blackberries and raspberries are also a good buy.
A huge range of UK veg is on the Market including broad beans, fine beans and peas.
It's a great time for squashes - including these from top UK organic grower Bedlam Farms.
They also grow artichokes - aren't these purple 'chokes stunning?
Other UK crops include sweetcorn, tomatoes, Romanesco, kohl rabi, roots, salads, herbs and more - it really is a buzzing time on Buyer's Walk.
And last - but not least - are autumn's wild mushrooms - including Ceps and Trompette, Chanterelle and Pied Mouton.
