Fruit and Vegetable Market Report for March 2026

This is the month when spring starts to unfold. The first crops of UK asparagus are here. There is also green, white and purple from the Continent.

Batches of wild garlic have arrived from the warmer corners of the United Kingdom. This season will run until May.

There are also peas and broad beans - currently from Europe. Jersey Royal potatoes will be along soon.

On the citrus front, Tarocco blood oranges are still available although Moro is all but over as it has a shorter season.

This is the last month of the main European citrus season. Lovely leafy lemons and large leafy oranges are a highlight right now, along with Cedro.

These are an unusual one - Sumo or Dekopon oranges - imported from Japan. Several wholesalers offer speciality products from Japan and the wholesaler and catering supply company All Greens have just added a new range.

These are some of their Japanese winter strawberries - graded to perfection.

Or how about white strawberries, grown in The Netherlands? Gariguettes and wild strawberries are also at the start of their season.

Don't forget that English apples are still available out of store. These are Cox from the orchards of Kent.

The European pear season is at the very end. The final delicacy are Williams and wax-tipped Passe Crassane pears.

Yorkshire forced rhubarb is still available and will be replaced soon by an outdoor crop.

For vegetables, many UK brassicas will wind down as the weather warms up. Saying that, you will still find Brussel sprouts.

It's a good time for artichokes - from smaller Violet to huge Mammole.

Other Italian products include puntarelle, cime di rapa, courgettes and agretti.

Radicchios are still a good shout, too.
