Premier celebrates 27 years of successful trading

Today (June 6th), Premier Foods Wholesale is celebrating its 27th birthday, marking another milestone in a journey that began at New Covent Garden Market in 1999.

Founded by Jason Tanner and Roger Garber, the business began as a fresh fruit supplier called Premier Fruits, built on a passion for quality produce. What started as a market-based operation has grown into one of the UK's leading independent family-run fresh and frozen food suppliers.

Over the past two and a half decades, Premier Foods Wholesale has evolved alongside the changing needs of the food industry, expanding into vegetables, salads, exotic produce, prepared foods and frozen products. The business has maintained BRC Global Standards AA accreditation year after year and continued to invest in its facilities, operations and people.

Today, Premier Foods Wholesale employs more than 200 people, sources products from over 30 countries and handles more than one million packages annually. In recent years, the business has invested in its London headquarters with a modern office fit-out including a gym and golf simulator to support its growing team, while also launching its own packhouse operation in Rwanda and Tanzania.

The company has also developed closer relationships with growers across key sourcing regions to help ensure quality and continuity of supply for customers throughout the year.

Reflecting on the anniversary, Jason Tanner, pictured on right with Justin Tanner, said: "Looking back over the last 27 years, I'm incredibly proud of how far we've come. From a single market stand to a national supplier, our growth has only been possible because of the dedication of our team, the loyalty of our customers and the support of our suppliers.”

While the scale of the business has changed significantly since its early days at New Covent Garden Market, its focus on quality, reliability and strong relationships remains unchanged. The company thanked its customers, suppliers, partners and team members for their continued support over the past years and looks forward to the next chapter in its history.
