Bryan Porter is the cover star of latest BFA magazine

14 Sep, 2026

New Covent Garden Flower Market’s Bryan Porter is featured on the cover of the British Florist Association’s (BFA) latest magazine, discussing his family business: Porters Foliage Ltd.

As owner of a company that can trace its roots back more than 100 years to the original Covent Garden Flower Market, Bryan is featured both on the cover (below), plus in a double-page feature in the magazine which is sent to BFA members across the country four times a year.

Freelance journalist Emma Alexander met with Bryan at Nine Elms to learn more about the history of old Covent Garden, plus the exciting move in 2028 to the Flower Market’s new and permanent home on the ground floor of the Market’s Food Exchange building.

Asked what sets New Covent Garden Market apart from online wholesalers, Bryan said it’s the ability to physically see, smell and touch the products. “Flowers are a visual and sensory experience,” he said. “New Covent Garden Flower Market wholesalers provide an incredible wealth of knowledge and experience [and] offer the largest selection of Flowers, Foliage and sundries in the country, all under one roof to explore.”

Describing the offer available from Porters Foliage in the introduction to the feature, pictured below, Emma highlighted everything from huge trees to a plethora of dried and preserved florals, and fresh greenery from all over the world. “Porters is an Aladdin’s cave of botanical wonders", she said. “If you are local to London or the South East, you’ve more than likely visited already, and if not, add Porters to your list!”

Emma added: “The Porters name itself is synonymous with quality, and any florist could get lost in the treasure trove of beauty on offer at their wholesale stand at New Covent Garden Market.”
