Celebrity florist Warren Bushaway is sharing the secrets behind a series of amazing festive floral displays he’s created this Christmas - and he’s full of praise for New Covent Garden Flower Market.
Known as the ‘Banksy of Flowers’, Warren creates his amazing displays for clients across the city from his base in one of the Railway Arches at New Covent Garden Market.
So what’s Warren’s number one tip for budding florists looking to make the ultimate festive display? “Go to the market, like New Covent Garden Market, get inspired by what’s available in the market, [or] go to Richmond Park and look at how nature decorates.”
Warren’s seen a strong demand for his creations despite – or perhaps because of – the current tough economic situation. “I think there is definitely an upturn in people wanting to spend and the levels they want to go to, it’s definitely busier this year,” says Warren in an interview published on the Metro newspaper website.
The upturn in spending has seen Warren’s clients demanding even more glamorous displays, as they bid to outdo their neighbours. This Christmas his team created a £30,000 display for one client (their most expensive display), that features Christmas trees throughout the house and garlands going up the staircase.
“It took two days and they’ve got a weekly refresh as well, so we go in every week and put in new foliage so it all still smells,” explains Warren. “Then we change the Christmas trees three times up until Christmas, so the Christmas trees still stay fresh all the way through.”
