On November 14th, a delegation from the Master’s in Supply Chain Management program at Adolfo Ibáñez University in Chile were given a tour of the Market by Tony O’Reilly, Covent Garden Market Authority’s Project Director.
The 15 C-Level executives were led by Professor Jorge Hernández, PhD, Founder and Director of what is the top-ranked program of its kind in the South American country. The group was also accompanied by Nicolás Poblete Bravo, Director of ProChile UK, which promotes exports of Chilean products to the UK market.
The group included execs from companies as diverse as Walmart Chile, Maersk, Albermarle and H&M and the objectives of the delegation’s visit to the UK, which took in various logistic and distribution hubs in different sectors and locations, reflected its nature:
Tony and NCGM Press Officer Tommy Leighton explained the configuration of the site and the ways in which the traders here operate. Visiting this market was seen as a valuable experience for the group, particularly as its operational procedures differ greatly from the wholesale market in Santiago.
