You'll be on fast forward this August - as many crops land a few weeks early.
It's been a remarkable year for UK growers due to exceptional weather. Strawberry growers benefitted from a spring of high light levels and cool nights. In the orchards, kind weather meant blossom remained undamaged on the trees - boosting volumes of fruit to come. Cherry growers reported a record-breaking harvest of 8,000 tonnes.
This August, the Discovery apples are already being picked. The apple and pear crop on the trees looks exceptional.
English plums have begun: Opal variety followed by Victoria. You may also find damsons and foraged sloes. Reine de Claude from France is here; homegrown greengages to come. Look out for dainty Mirabelle plums - also French.
At time of writing, English cherries are still excellent but coming to a close.
Homegrown soft fruit includes strawberries, raspberries, blackberries and blueberries.
Get ready for French black figs - always a treat.
UK cobnuts are on the way - fresh and milky at this stage, before they start to dry.
It's a good month for grapes as the European season begins. Below is the variety Prima; Muscat is next in line.
Plenty of melons - from Piel de Sapo to yellow-fleshed watermelon.
It's also peak time for stone fruit such as peaches and nectarines. Apricots still available but on the way out.
UK peas and broad beans are finishing early this year due to earlier dry conditions and drought in some parts of the UK. Beans from the Continent include Borlotti and Coco de Paimpol.
Other UK lines include all the salads, watercress, Rainbow Chard, bunched beets and bunched carrots.
The UK tomato season is full season, such as this mixed box from top grower Nutbourne in West Sussex.
Courgettes and marrows are also abundant.
UK sweetcorn will be with us into September. Squashes will also start this month.
For wild mushrooms, Scottish girolle are the highlight. Cep and Cesar also pop up in August.
See you in September for our next Market Report.
