July is the month where dazzling produce arrives thick and fast.
The recent heatwave has been a headache for some growers - strawberries, for example, can ripen too fast and this disrupts the careful planning of the growers.
UK gooseberries are in season - both green and red.

Blackcurrants are just starting, following on from redcurrants and whitecurrants.
Cherries are in their prime - look at these beauties. But why buy French when the UK crop is so good this year?

Other stone fruits are now full season, including blood peaches and nectarines.

The first European plums are trickling in. The UK crop should start at the end of this month - Opal variety the first in line. We will also see greengages and Mirabelles.

All the melons are here - from watermelons to Piel de Sapo.
European figs just beginning - black from Spain and France, green from Italy.

On the veg front, UK peas and broad beans are available. Other beans include early Runners and Borlotti.

July is a fantastic month for tomatoes, courgettes and summer squashes. There is a huge variety on the Market - brightening up our day.
Isn't this display just stunning? Tip top quality, too. Other UK lines include salads, herbs, mids potatoes and spring onions. Brassicas includes kales, tenderstem, cabbages and spring greens.
