Mission Kitchen – showcasing the talent made at New Covent Garden Market

Mission Kitchen – showcasing the talent made at New Covent Garden Market

A new short film showcases New Covent Garden’s Mission Kitchen community

Mission Kitchen is a community of shared commercial kitchens and co-working space based on the first floor of the market’s Food Exchange building.

Created in partnership with local production company Chocolate Films, the Mission Kitchen film starts with an overview from General Manager Ivan, who explains their unique purpose and aims for the creatives they support. Plus three food business founders talk about creating their brands right here at New Covent Garden Market.

Eva Thorne is the founder of Garden of Eva. Born and raised in New York City, Eva gains her inspiration from her mum Tina, who was born and raised on a farm in the Blue Ridge mountains, in Roanoke, Virginia. Eva's experiences in the kitchen with her mother pickling and preserving sowed the seed for the Garden of Eva, a company that makes pickles inspired by the world's food cultures.

Frankie Spivey is the founder of Frankie’s Brownies, which has enjoyed amazing success in a short time producing delicious ‘home-made’ chocolate brownies. After starting her business in 2020 during the first lockdown, London-born entrepreneur Frankie is continuing to think big, securing a distribution deal with a UK-wide restaurant chain to provide sweet-tasting puddings.

Tom Palmer is the founder of Yep Kitchen, created back in November 2022 when Tom returned from living in China. He's created a line-up of award-winning chilli oils and ferments to bring Southwest China’s rich and fiery flavours to the UK. He says: “One of the reasons we’re doing so well is thanks to the support within the Mission Kitchen community and beyond."

What's clear from all three businesses is that being a part of New Covent Garden Market - with access to amazing fresh produce - has been a key factor in their achievements. You can watch the film here - 50 years in Nine Elms: Mission Kitchen.
