Join Mission Kitchen on Tuesday, August 15th for some lively discussion about the highs and lows of making it in the food business world, with two of the Market’s tenants.

Mission Kitchen, on the first floor of the Food Exchange, is holding a series of talks, at which some of the UK's leading food and drink voices will be sharing their stories about how they built their businesses and some of the valuable lessons they learned along the way.

This is an open in-person session for aspiring food founders where participants are encouraged to get involved, ask questions and apply ideas to their own projects and businesses.

This event will take place from 17:30 to 19:00, and feature Harry Thuillier, co-founder of Oppo Brothers, which is based at the Food Exchange, and Lisa Puddle, co-founder of Momo Kombucha, a brewer based in the Railway Arches at NCGM.

As well as being neighbours of Mission Kitchen, both businesses are also B Corps, having passed through a rigorous certification programme that assesses a company’s performance against five key categories: governance, workers, customers, community, and the environment.

Oppo Brothers was established in 2011 by brothers Harry and Charlie, on a mission to change the way people eat by creating amazingly tasty foods that don’t compromise on health or the planet. The result? Healthy ice cream! So far, since launch Oppo have saved 5.32bn calories from people’s diet or 600,000kg of fat as they chose Oppo over standard ice cream. As the recipients of multiple Great Taste Awards, they have not compromised on taste or quality.

Momo Kombucha was founded by Josh and Lisa Puddle, who discovered kombucha on a trip to New York in 2016. They returned to London inspired to start home brewing kombucha. They now have larger commercial premises but still remain committed to brewing completely unfiltered kombucha, in small glass jars with organic ingredients.
