Multi-award-winning New Covent Garden Market based kombucha brewery MOMO Kombucha has launched a collaborative Watermelon Kombucha with Natoora.
MOMO’s unfiltered kombucha blends perfectly with Sentinel watermelon, resulting in a burst of sweet, fruity flavour perfectly balanced by the classic zingy tones of Kombucha. The Sentinel watermelon is grown by Oscar Zerbinati, in Mantua, Northern Italy, an area renowned for its melon growing. The Zerbinati family is one of the most celebrated growers in the region. The watermelons are grown slowly, reaching up to 18KG, Oscar grows one melon per plant to ensure each plant puts all its energy into the one fruit; he carefully restricts their water intake, forcing them to cling to the nutrients in the mineral rich clay soils, resulting in dense, rich flesh.
This may be the lightest, most refreshing kombucha MOMO has ever made, says co-Founder Josh Puddle. It really highlights both the quality of the produce and kombucha as a medium. Zerbinati’s Watermelon is rich, with juicy, sweet flesh making the kombucha ideal for summer sipping; whether at a picnic, BBQ, or after a long, hot tube journey.
Josh says of the collaboration: “We are so grateful to have partnered with Natoora and to have been able to combine Zerbinati’s expertly grown watermelons with our kombucha. I wasn’t sure the flavour would cut through the kombucha, but it really does and has totally surpassed our expectations – all credit to our Head Brewer Matt Canham. We’re also happy to be supporting Natoora’s Farm Fund through this partnership, a fantastic organisation supporting young farmers committed to agroecological methods.”
The Recommended Retail Price is £4.50 per 330ml glass bottle and the Watermelon Kombucha is available from MOMO, Natoora, Planet Organic and Whole Foods.
Collaborative blends have become an integral part of the MOMO Kombucha brewing calendar, 2022 saw MOMO with Danish fashion brand, GANNI, MOMO’s recent Forced Rhubarb collaboration with Natoora sold out within days, its partnership with Orbit Beers saw the brew team create a Hopped Kombucha and in Spring 2023 the team worked with Caravan Coffee Roasters to create MOMO x Caravan Gesha Coffee Kombucha, a first-of-its-kind launch, using cold brew Gesha, one of the world’s rarest and most sought-after coffee varieties.
